As beautiful as the online video of the property appears, it really doesn’t do it justice. Having been to numerous properties on the island over the past 20 years, we spent a week here with our three sons and 2 daughters-in-law relaxing, diving, snorkeling and windsurfing the days away. This is by far the most beautiful property, ideal location, making this the best vacation of them all. Large enough to allow everyone to enjoy themselves with adequate privacy, and a kitchen inviting us to enjoy nearly all of our meals out on the vast deck and sitting area. We dove with Buddy Dive, signing up right down the street at Belmar Apartments – our prior address when visiting – and could get tanks there and further north at Buddy’s as needed. Jan and his family live next door for any questions we had – there were very few. The diving / snorkeling right out back is wonderful, and the night sky is more spectacular than you would imagine. We look forward to scheduling our return trip, and suspect this will be an annual event for all who can make their way here.

I was supposed to write this last year as this is the second year back at Casa Esmeralda. I normally do not blog or write reviews, but I feel obligated to because the owners are so great. I quickly scanned the other reviews and agree whole heartedly – Jan makes you feel like a house guest and goes out of his way to help in any fashion, all without being intrusive at all. I love this place as a luxury home away from home. We like to cook and the kitchen is great. The view is fantastic. The backyard is great for those that don’t mind not having a white sandy beach – it is raw and pristine like the rest of the island and I love it for that. Casa Esmeralda is one of the last residences on the West coast of Bonaire, there is no residency beyond a few hundred feet south – only the nature preserve. I do not recommend the island of Bonaire to everyone. It is not a refined island, but if that appeals to you, look no further than this piece of paradise.

Not sure where to start to describe this wonderful villa. Our 4th time on Bonaire, and our first time in Casa Esmeralda. This villa is just fantastic in every way. Breathtaking sunsets, absolute privacy, dolphins in the backyard, flamingos in the sky, the kitchen is worth a 5 star review on its own, remarkable dive and/or snorkeling sites out back, it is all just perfect! There is absolutely nothing negative to report. We re-booked on the day we left and cannot wait to get back! If you are considering renting a waterfront villa, this has to be on the top of your list!

My wife and I and our family have been diving on Bonaire for 23 years. We love the island, and this villa is by far the most wonderful place that we have stayed in during that time. We have rented this villa for the last two years, and we have already reserved it again for next year. All of the equipment in the house is modern and high end, and the kitchen is very well equipped. The owner lives next door. He personally insures that his guests have everything that they need to make their vacation a memorable experience. He had food and beverages waiting for us when we arrived this year; champagne when we sadly had to leave. He is familiar with the restaurants, and happy to make suggestions. The villa is right on the water, and the view is incredible – particularly at sunset. I personally love to sit on the large porch and watch the ships pass by or anchor for the night. The stars are spectacular at night. The sound of the waves softly lapping up on the shore will rock you to sleep. To us, the thing that most separates this house from the rest is the location and architectural design. It is located near the end of the island where Bonaire’s famous wind is not blocked by the mountains. And it was built perpendicular to the predominant wind, so when the when the louvered windows are opened on both sides, a cool breeze flows through the entire house. It is a truly relaxing experience from dawn to dusk. We own a rental property in Florida ourselves, so we know and appreciate how much effort is required to build, maintain and operate a property of this high quality. If you intend to go to Bonaire to dive, snorkel, wind surf, kite surf – or just relax and enjoy the year round warm weather – we highly recommend this property.

This place is real paradise! Stayed here for 9 days, way too short. The view is amazing, especially from the master bedroom. Kitchen well equipped and everybody loved the pool table. Diving spot in front of the villa is beautiful, the “Hilma Hooker” wreckage is about a 3 minutes drive. We want to come back for sure!

My husband and I stayed for a week at Casa Esmeralda and enjoyed wonderful shore diving from the villa as well as all over the island. The villa is meticulously maintained and has every amenity one could possible ask for, including screens! We never used the air conditioning as the winds flowed through the house during all parts of the day and evening. Most evenings we enjoyed cocktails while watching a fabulous sunset and then cooked our dinner in the very complete kitchen. We have stayed in Bonaire three other times and this was by far the best villa we have rented. We can not wait to return!

We stayed at Casa Esmeralda in early to mid-February, and we can’t say enough about it! After going out a few nights, we ended up cooking at home the rest of the time, because we didn’t want to leave. Watching the sunset as the ocean laps up to the balcony was heavenly. The location was easily drivable to anywhere – especially since Bonaire is so small. The house is so cool and modern – such a fun departure from suburbia. All of us truly felt like we were transported on vacation. Jan and Bettina were so helpful with everything from restaurant suggestions, luggage storage, and even helped us snag a fresh wahoo for dinner one night. We would go again and again and again…

If this house is available and you don’t rent it, you are missing a luxurious vacation! Very well situated on the coast just a few minutes south of town, this house has it all! The kitchen is so nice, we decided to stay in a few nights and cook! Excellent appliances and ample cookware, utensils, china etc. Plenty of room inside and out for dining, relaxing, games or whatever else you do on vacation. With windows galore, the wind coming off the ocean can blow right through the house. Also, Jan and Bettina make you feel like their house guests. Available, but not intrusive, concerned and eager to do whatever they can to make your stay better. We are planning way in advance for our next trip, because this place will be hard to get!

We booked the house because of its locations (the second closest house to the the kitesurf beach on the whole island) and because it had a pool table. The house is extremely complete, with all the kitchen utensils and equipment you can imagine. We arrived late at night, and there was a bottle of red wine and some snacks and they had prepared things for breakfast. The rental included a local phone, which was very handy. It was a little pricy for a family of six (the house easily fits 10 people), but we enjoyed our stay a lot and it was worth it.

Top to bottom, we absolutely loved Casa Esmeralda! We went out to dinner in Bonaire a few nights and then stayed in the rest of the time because we didn’t want to leave. The kitchen is fabulous to cook in – and there’s a barbecue as well. Jan and Bettina couldn’t have been more helpful from restaurant recommendations, to luggage storage, to even snagging a fresh wahoo for us for dinner. The house is so cool and modern – such a nice departure from winter suburbia. Sitting on the balcony watching the sunset while the ocean laps up was simply heaven. We would go back again and again and again…
